Construction Contracting Firm
PPI started having conversations with the firm in Northern New Jersey back when walls were still being put up in the office. After numerous bilateral meetings about the specific needs of the firm, account managers at PPI came up with unique solutions for three conference rooms, a divisible training room and a dedicated bidding room. The images shown here are from the second floor conference room, designed for high definition video conferencing during bidding and project management scenarios. The design allows presenters to easily pull documents from the network, assess project needs and mark up proposals during reviews. Two 80″ monitors mounted on articulating arms provide the display for the video conferencing system. They can be used for multi-site calls and allow meeting participants to see presentation content and the far end of a video call simultaneously. At the other end of the room, an interactive SMART Board with Meeting Pro software allows for seamless collaboration and manipulation of visual content during calls and meetings. Microphones hang down from the ceiling and laptop cables are all stored neatly in cubbies to leave table space open for large printed documents. The system is controlled via a custom Crestron Ipad app which manages source selection, display layouts, and all in room audio visual functions including audio conferencing, video conferencing and system on/off. With the right technology now in place, the client looks forward to clearer communication and more efficient project management.
The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) provides a pathway for secure messaging in the financial world. More than 10,000 institutions in 212 countries trust SWIFT with sending their confidential financial messages around the globe. SWIFT has headquarters in Belgium and has offices in all of the world’s major developing markets. In the spring of 2013, Presentation Products was called in to design and install a system that would improve communications both internally and with SWIFT offices around the globe. PPI account managers spent the first leg of the project taking light measurements and diagnosing all concerns with the installation space. Rooms on the 47th floor provide brilliant views of the city, but also create AV challenges that require intelligently designed systems to combat difficult lighting and sound environments. The solution was a state-of-the-art presentation system which included an 8,500 lumen projector. The board room has HD video conferencing technology and allows for multi-site calling and content sharing for any secure VTC calls made to other professional systems. The training room is equipped with a wireless head worn mic system for presenters, and hand-held mics for audience questions. The room has ATC and PC conferencing capabilities allowing SWIFT to share their trainings on hosting platforms such as WebEx. Each room is controlled by a touch panel with a custom graphic user interface designed specifically for SWIFT. The touch panels are capable of controlling room lighting environments, motorized shades and frosted glass, along with all in-room audio visual functions.
One of PPI’s many projects with longtime partner Viacom was the MTV Networks multi-floor lobby, completed in early 2012. This system is comprised of 49 different displays between 7” and 32” arranged in various locations around the two floors. The displays are integrated into the millwork of the lobbies to create an artful, bright, and sophisticated look. Video is divided into four zones for content management, and sent to a video mixer to make traditional TV content more abstract. Additionally, PPI worked with Traxon, an industry leader in lighting solutions, to design custom oversize LED lights in the shapes of the letters M, T, and V. This lighting, integrated with the staggered displays, creates a unique and stylish look for the entire space. PPI also installed a multi-zoned audio system with in-wall speakers, and the entire lobby system is controlled by a touch panel at the rack. PPI worked with a+i architecture for this project, which exemplifies design creativity as well as sleek and non-traditional in-field audiovisual work.
